US recognizes two Israeli companies as a threat to national security
The US Department of Commerce announced the expansion of the "black list", which includes companies that threaten the security of the state. It includes two Israeli spyware firms: NSO and Candiru.
NSO has been implicated in numerous mobile phone hacking scandals through its Pegasus program. In July 2021, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced the start of an investigation into the company's activities.
This was preceded by publications according to which foreign intelligence services used the Pegasus to spy on top leaders in France, including President Emmanuel Macron. A few days ago it became known that the software was found on the phones of five French ministers.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett held a meeting with the French leader on the sidelines of the climate change summit. One of the issues discussed was the activities of an Israeli company.
