Sberbank launched the first ATM in Russia that does not require bank cards. The entire client journey goes through a smartphone. First, a QR code is scanned, and then the client selects the desired operation on his smartphone. According to Sber Senior Vice President Tatyana Galkina, the cost of equipping such ATMs is 15% lower, and maintenance costs are 20% lower.
Sberbank will also completely abandon American-made ATMs. So, if at the beginning of 2022 the share of such ATMs in the bank's network reached 24%, then by mid-April 2023 it was only 5%.
