Putin's hunger plan to create a wave of migrants, thus destabilizing the European Union

Putin's Terrifying Plan. He wants to starve millions of people

Prof. Timothy Snyder argues that Vladimir Putin is following in the footsteps of Stalin and Hitler in trying to starve Africa and Asia. According to the American historian, the president of Russia wants to bring about a crisis in Ukraine and create a wave of migrants, thus destabilizing the European Union.

The Russians who are occupying Ukraine are stealing the grain stocks there and blocking the ports, preventing exports from a country that is one of the most important granaries in the world. In this way, Moscow triggered the global food crisis, and experts are alarming that many regions may soon be hit by famine.

The matter in social media was commented by prof. Timothy Snyder.

- “Putin's hunger plan is such a nightmare that we have difficulties understanding it. We are also forgetting how important food is for politics. A few examples from history may be helpful here," he wrote.

Prof. Snyder recalled the deaths of about 4 million people in Ukraine, which resulted from the Stalinist collectivization in agriculture.

- “It is worth recalling that when people (in Ukraine) began to die en masse, Stalin blamed them themselves. Soviet propaganda called those who pointed out the hunger Nazis . The Nazis proper had similar ideas - they liked the idea of controlling Ukrainian agriculture. In fact, it was Hitler's main war target, who planned to divert Ukrainian grain to Germany in the hope of triggering a wave of hunger among millions of Soviet citizens," pointed out the author.

Now, the historian argues, the same tactic was used by Vladimir Putin. In his opinion, Putin's "hunger plan" is part of the operation to destroy the Ukrainian state, but is also expected to lead to a famine in North Africa and the Middle East, which will end up with another wave of migration and destabilization of the European Union.

- “Finally, and the most terrible thing, world hunger is the necessary backdrop for the Russian propaganda campaign against Ukraine. The death of the real masses of people is needed as a backdrop for the propaganda rivalry, because when riots due to food shortages begin and hunger begins to spread, Russian propaganda will blame Ukraine and call for recognition of its territorial gains and the lifting of sanctions," adds prof. Snyder.
