"Aerial military facility" near Bydgoszcz

According to RMF FM journalists, an air-to-surface missile was found in a forest near Bydgoszcz. It was discovered on Monday (April 24) after 15:00 near Zamość in Kujawsko-Pomorskie, but it fell in the forest some time ago. Whether it was a few days or a few weeks is hard to say.

Witnesses who came across a suspicious object alerted the services that it was large. According to the unofficial findings of the RMF FM journalist,  it is even several meters long and stuck in the ground.

Police officers from the district police arrived on the spot. After they assessed the find, the military police were immediately summoned. The immediate area was fenced off, the uniforms also blocked the entrance to the forest located in Zamość. Sappers and the fire brigade were also seen on the spot  .

This is confirmed by the RMF FM reporter Beniamin Piłat, who went to the place. In the morning Fakty RMF FM reported that the area is still secured by the services and access to the forest is prohibited. Officers are also guarding the roads leading to the find site.

Our journalist heard from the residents that they learned about the action of the services this morning from the radio. They are surprised.

It is unknown if the missile exploded

The area where the bullet was found is located about one and a half kilometers north of the center of the small town of Zamość near Bydgoszcz.

At first it was thought a drone had fallen. Later it was found that it could be the remains of an aircraft missile. It has inscriptions in Russian.

However, it is not known whether the missile exploded. We're checking to see if it was armed because  there's no warhead in it. It may have separated from the missile, so the search for it is ongoing.

Findings of RMF FM: Fragments of military equipment belonging to our army

RMF FM journalist Krzysztof Zasada found out unofficially that it was probably not shelling from abroad, but these were fragments of military equipment belonging to our army. It is not yet known under what circumstances he was lost.

However, our interlocutors point out that nearby - about 10 kilometers from Zamość - there are Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze 2, which repairs, among others, F-16 fighters. There is also an airport nearby, which is used by these plants and the army.

Polko in RMF24: MiGi-29 are equipped with missiles

It did not necessarily (the missile - ed.) come from the Russian Federation or from the battle lines. It should be remembered that we have MiGi-29s, which are equipped with missiles - this is how Gen. Roman Polko, former commander of GROM, commented on the find in the forest near Bydgoszcz on the air of the Internet Radio RMF24.

Perhaps there were some training, perhaps for Ukrainians, perhaps for Polish pilots  - he added, suggesting that instead of shooting at the object on the training ground, the pilot "shot through" or some rocket fell off.

Polko emphasized that our army has a lot of post-Soviet weapons - hence the Cyrillic inscriptions visible on it.

He considered the scenario that it was a stray missile fired over our eastern border as highly unlikely.

"Remains of an unidentified military facility were found near the town of Zamość, about 15 km from Bydgoszcz. The situation does not threaten the safety of the residents," the Ministry of National Defense reported.

"Bringing an immediate danger of an event threatening the life and health of many people or property in large sizes" - this is the code basis for initiating an investigation into the discovery of the remains of a military facility in the vicinity of Bydgoszcz. This information was provided by RMF FM from Gdańsk prosecutor Grażyna Wawryniuk.

On April 26, the Department of Military Affairs of the District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk launched an investigation into the remains of a military facility revealed on April 24 near Bydgoszcz, she told us.
