Former Russian mayoral candidate proposes alien monument in Voronezh to boost tourism and remember aliens who allegedly saved town from nuclear disaster

Former mayoral candidate Andrei Zgonnikov proposed erecting a UFO monument to Voronezh residents, the publication "Bloknot Voronezh" reported on October 29.
According to Zgonnikov, there is such a thing as mystical tourism. The capital of the Black Earth Region could become a destination for travelers.
"Such a tourist site will become a magnet for tourists, ufologists, and scientists from all over the world. The development of this location will stimulate domestic tourism, as Voronezh's South Park is already a world-famous landmark," Zgonnikov argued.
Zgonnikov recalled that in September 1989, Young Pioneers saw a flying saucer in South Park. TASS reported on the phenomenon at the time, and specialists from the Popov Scientific and Technical Society's Anomalous Phenomena Section and the KGB were brought in to investigate.
Zgonnikov suggested marking this place with an art object in the form of a flying saucer.
The former candidate also stated that Voronezh residents should not forget who saved them from a potential disaster at the local nuclear power plant. It was those same aliens.
