In the elections to the State Duma, United Russia can count on the support of the Orthodox Church. This was decided at the conference "Russia-2003: Elections and Religious Confessions".On Saturday, a conference was held under the extremely curious title "Russia-2003: Elections and Religious Confessions". Representatives of various religious denominations gathered at the President Hotel. Only the two chief rabbis of Russia Berl Lazar and Adolf Shaevich did not come, because the Jews can't do anything on Saturday. In addition to the ministers of the cult, the correspondent of Gazeta.Ru noticed several Duma officials responsible for relations with the Kremlin administration.

The meeting was opened by the head of the Department of External Church Relations of the Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church Vsevolod Chaplin. He said that the number of Orthodox believers has increased significantly over the past ten years, but political parties should not use these citizens for their political purposes. "After all, the activities of Orthodox laity will be articulated in different political parties," Chaplin warned. In other words, both the communists of Gennady Zyuganov and the Democrats of Boris Nemtsov will stand under the banners, and the Orthodox will be puzzled. However, as Chaplin made it clear, the communists, who recently publicly admitted that they would look for voters in churches, but the attitude towards United Russia is calmer, cause more fear. The leader of the party Alexander Dugin, the leader of the Eurasia party, which, in fact, organized this conference, said the same thing. "The CPRF will have very serious problems in the elections. If they repeat the slogans that Zyuganov said at the last Russian People's Council, their attempts to summon the electorate will not succeed. (Speeping at the Russian cathedral, Gennady Zyuganov said that Gagarin was launched into space to see the god. - "Gazeta.Ru"). For all ten years, the communists managed not to publish a single serious magazine where they would explain what successors of ideology they are."
"On the part of the Orthodox Church, it would be possible to present the CPRF with an ultimatum with a request to explain whether communists are carriers of a new ideology, or the former socio-political heresy and achinea that they carry," said Eurasian Dugin.

If Dugin refused the communists the right to go to church, he allows United Russia to do so. However, according to him, the ruling party does not have to count on the active support of the church, since the government opposed the lessons of Orthodoxy in schools. "United Russia" is associated with the president and the government, and cannot formulate its attitude to Orthodoxy. But that's good. "The fact that it is an indistinct and brainless party is their plus, not a minus. At this stage, any ideologization can be premature," Dugin said.

After him, political scientist Gleb Pavlovsky, who at one time came up with this indistinct party of power, spoke. He was not invited to the presidium, he was sitting in the front rows with a laptop, and then said something strange: "Putin is the world for Russia, the world for the Russian diaspora. The majority power will be formed in these elections. And the core of the majority should be the supporters of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin."
Pavlovsky advised the Orthodox Church to "be favorable to the formation of the majority power".

The Muslim denomination at this event was represented by Mufti Khoja Khozrat, who is also a member of Dugin's party. He was not offended by the fact that "United Russia" is matched with the Orthodox Church, not with Islam. The Mufti said that it is necessary to support Putin.

At the end of the conference, Sergei Glazyev, a member of the CPRF faction, appeared in the hall. He was presented as the only communist who did not stain himself. However, Glazyev is only a member of the faction, not of the Communist Party. Recently, he drafted a bill "On Social Partnership of the State and Religious Organizations", in which he proposes to open Orthodox cells in all factories, enterprises and military units, as well as to provide traditional denominations with free television broadcast. In general, for the state and the church to cooperate. Dugin immediately gave an example of how the current authorities should cooperate with Orthodoxy: at the insistent request of the diocese, the Yekaterinburg City Hall closed the gay club "Clone". "Here is an example of Orthodox political influence," Dugin said.
