According to letters from the hacked mail of the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov, it was the Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev who proposed the candidacies of Igor Girkin-Strelkov, Denis Pushilin, Alexander Zakharchenko and other militants to the "government of the Donetsk Republic".
Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and unofficial curator of the "Ukrainian issue" in the Kremlin Vladislav Surkov coordinated candidates "to the DPR government" in the spring of 2014. This is evidenced by the documents found in the hacked mail of Surkov's reception, which were studied by the editorial office of "GORDON".
On May 13, 2014, the Kremlin curator's reception came a letter from Alena Bogomolova from Marshall Group, an investment company of the Russian oligarch and Orthodox philanthropist Konstantin Malofeev, scandalous for his accusations of fraud and raiding.
"Good afternoon, Evgenia (employee of Surkov's reception Evgenia Kudryavtseva. - "GORDON"), - the letter says. - Attached are the documents for Vladislav Yurievich. Konstantin asked to transfer them as soon as possible."
The attached document contains "a list of candidates for the government of the Donetsk Republic", among the candidates are the former so-called Minister of Defense of the "DPR" Igor Girkin-Strelkov, "Chairman of the People's Council "DPR" Denis Pushilin, "Head of the Republic" Alexander Zakharchenko and others. The letter with the "candidates" from Malofeev came on May 13, and Pushilin was appointed "chairman of the "DPR" presidium on May 15, that is, after coordination with Surkov.
"DPR" militant Igor Girkin-Strelkov and "DPR Council Chairman of Ministers" Alexander Borodai are Malofeev's former subordinates: Girkin was the head of Marshall Capital security service, Borodai was a personal consultant to the oligarch.
In Ukraine, criminal proceedings have been opened against the Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev for aiding and abetting the organization of paramilitary groups, supplying weapons and ammunition.
According to Novaya Gazeta, the oligarch is also involved in the development of a scenario for the seizure of Crimea and Donbass. In 2014, RBC wrote that the Malofeev Foundation is one of the sponsors of the "DPR", only in the summer of 2014 Malofeev sent 576 tons of cargo to the territory of Donetsk region controlled by the militants.
On October 24, 2016, the Ukrainian hacker group "Cyberjunta" announced that it had hacked the electronic mailbox of the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov and received full access to the correspondence of the unofficial curator of the "Ukrainian issue" in the Kremlin.
