'A Jew should try to be rich', Chabad tells Jewry

A Jew should try to be rich
An abridged translation of materials from the talks of the Rebbe King Moshiach on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the weekly chapter of "Trum" 5752.

1. Begin with a blessing. Especially when the month of Adar comes, when they “increase in joy”, moreover, they increase it like “reduce ... when the month of Av comes ...”.

What is the comparison, because this, at first glance, reduces the joy in Adar? These decreases and increases in joy are related in content: the purpose of the decrease in joy in Ava is to transform darkness into light and bitterness into joy. Since this is done by increasing joy in Adar, it adds joy in Adar: not only from the revealed good, but also from the transformation of darkness into light. This adds to the blessing, up to the blessing of true and complete Liberation.

2. The beginning of Adar often falls out and is associated with the chapter of "Trum". One must understand the connection between "increasing joy" and so on. in Adar and this chapter. In addition, this year: the chapter of "Trum" is read in 1 Adar and 2 days of the new month of Adar fell on Wednesday and Thursday.

3. "And they will take Me an offering... gold...". Why start with gold? Indeed, the path "from less to more" here suggests itself even more than usual, since we are talking about a donation coming from all of Israel [see ch. more details in the conversation]. And the Torah does not use the order of descending value of materials [cf. more details in the conversation]. It is also necessary to understand what instruction follows from this for generations.

4. In the Mishkan, the material building below, G-d "settled". The construction of the Mishkan depended on all Jews. And it suggests itself that the construction of such a building would have to depend precisely on tall people. Where does a simple man, woman or child have the strength to build a dwelling that will “satisfy” G-d, especially considering that the offering had to be made with a certain intention, up to the fullness of selfless Service?

5. Explanation:

The order for the construction of the Mishkan was given after and during the Giving of the Torah, when every Jew, and specifically the Jewish body, was chosen so that, also being a soul in a material body in the material world, the Jews would be a holy people. Thanks to the elimination of the division between the “upper” and “lower”, the Jews, as they are “below”, are in the position of the “upper”, based on the “part of G-d from above, in the literal sense”, “the Jew and G-d are in the absolute degree one," regardless of how the Jew looks from an external point of view [cf. more details in the conversation].

Hence: every Jew is obliged to make a donation to the Mishkan. Regardless of his outward level in ministry, every Jew, from an inward point of view, does the truth because it is the truth. Therefore, he is able to make sure that also the existence of the world can become holy, up to the "dwelling of G-d in the lower", the Mishkan, "... and I will dwell in them."

6. From this we understand the reason why gold is called the first among offerings:

Gold expresses the significance and dignity of the Jews, the first of whose property (and donations) - gold - is the most precious and significant. “After the giving of the Torah, a Jew, even being downstairs, where there is a need for silver and copper, first of all, a “rich man in essence”, is in absolute fullness in the material and in the spiritual.

This is especially true in relation to the construction of the Sanctuary, which is possible insofar as the Jew, also being below, represents the “upper”, “gold”.

This is the reason why the Jews then had a lot of gold and silver. This came from their dignity, their "wealth in essence."

From this it is clear why the donations of gold are described in the section "Vayakel" in a separate verse from the donation of silver and copper. It was gold that was also donated by women. Gold indicates the fullness of both men and women.

7. In the month of Adar, “the fateful star of the Jews” (“smeared”) is healthy. But it is said that "the Jews do not have a fateful star"? One could explain how RASHI: the Jews have a fateful star, but it can change, thanks to prayer and merit, but in relation to Adar this explanation is not enough.

From the point of view of their root from above, the Jews are in no way under the rule of the planets. The novelty is that even as a soul in a non-Jewish body below, in the natural world, the Jew is in the position of "the Jews do not have a fateful star" - he can change his fate. But this is from the side of a force that rises above fate, not from the point of view of the most fateful star. Adar's innovation is greater - even when the Jew is connected from below with the idea of the fateful star, immediately at the onset of this month, without work on his part, the fateful star itself becomes "healthy" in such a way that the non-Jew sees and feels it too.

In accordance with the internal explanation: the fateful star of the Jews is self-elimination (“bitul”). And it is not only from above, but this fateful star is drawn down. Being in the world, the Jew possesses self-withdrawal. His inner will is to do the will of G-d, even to the point where this becomes obvious to the eyes of the flesh and even to the eyes of the peoples of the world.

8. Hence the connection of the head of "Trumah" with the month of Adar:

In the donation to the Mishkan, the power of the Jew to be from below, as he is from above, was revealed, and in the "lower" to exist in the image of "gold". This gives strength to ensure that "his [Jewish] fateful star is healthy." So that, just as it is connected with the stage of "fate", the Jew should exist in a "healthy" way.

9. In the same connection with the fact that "from the moment Adar comes, they increase in joy":

The greatest joy of a Jew is that he knows that even being at the very bottom of the world, he is connected with Gd, and Gd says that the first thing in a Jew's property is "gold" - a Jew is rich in spiritual and material! And the novelty of comparing Adar and Av here is that even the state of darkness Adar is able to “turn” into the opposite.

When a Jew thinks about this, he comes to a great joy that changes his material life. The property of joy is that it penetrates all the ideas of a person. When a person rejoices, joyful is his life. Joy affects all his actions and all who come into contact with him. Joy brings good luck to all his actions and his whole life. Thanks to joy, a person becomes not only the owner of the future world, but also the true owner of this world. His life in this world becomes true, joyful and successful.

10. This is further emphasized by the fact that the new moon falls on Wednesday and Thursday [see ch. more details in the conversation].

11. Lesson from the above:

In the eternally up-to-date Torah, Gd decides that every Jew, first of all, is related to “gold”, should, in a simple sense, be rich in spiritual and material things. Moreover, he already is, and if it is not in disclosure on the material level, it is not because he lacks wealth, but because it needs to be revealed. On the contrary, as it unfolds, it acquires the advantage of “light from darkness” [cf. more details in the conversation]. Moreover, in our generation, G-d, without a doubt, blesses the Jews with material and spiritual wealth, even as it was when they left Egypt.

Hence the clear indication: the Jew should try to be rich. Starting from spiritual and fleshly wealth to material wealth, necessary in order to fulfill the Torah and commandments in peace of mind and body, to multiply in charity, to make a Sanctuary of Gd out of your home [see. more details in the conversation].

12. And yet more important and relevant: after all the explanations of the verse: "They will make me a sanctuary, and I will dwell within them" - this verse has a simple meaning. Every Jew has a duty to build the Temple. In relation to us: in a simple sense, to build the Third Temple, in the construction of which, according to the legislative decision of the Rambam, all Jews will have to take part, as in the construction of the Mishkan. Including children who in this generation have already been taught to give donations to charity [see. more details in the conversation].

13. A lesson from the simple meaning of the command: "From the moment of Adar, they increase in joy," which comes in addition to the general command to "serve God in joy."

Being at the beginning of the months of Adar, one must draw strength from them for joy from the very beginning, add in everything connected with joy, thanks to the decisions made by each, make every effort to increase in joy, with a constant increase from day to day [see. more details in the conversation].

Simply: so that everyone adds joy in all ideas, both for himself and for making others happy. First of all, thanks to the study of the Torah, and especially the internal Torah, and the fulfillment of commandments with decoration. And yet, thanks to the increase in joy in the Torah and the commandments, it will increase in joy in a simple understanding, also in the material [see. more details in the conversation].

14. And let it please that the increase in joy break through all the boundaries, starting with the last restrictions of exile, and turn them into goodness and holiness. To break through the limitation of the last moment of exile so that it becomes the first moment of Liberation. This is done by our service in joy. And especially, the Ministry of righteous Jewish women, in whose merit Liberation will come. In particular, the righteous Jewish women who died, God forbid, for the sanctification of the Name ... [see. more details in the conversation].

Up to that, they pass without interruption to eternal life in Liberation. “Makes our mouths laugh…” [cf. more details in the conversation].
