Russian woman detained after throwing newborn baby in trash

A 22-year-old resident of Novosibirsk was detained on suspicion of attempting to kill her own newborn child.
As the Investigative Committee of Russia for Novosibirsk said, the baby was found yesterday afternoon in a garbage container.
“On the afternoon of February 16, 2024, a newborn child wrapped in a plastic bag was discovered on the adjacent territory of one of the apartment buildings in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Novosibirsk. The baby was taken by ambulance to a medical facility and received the necessary assistance. “On this fact, the investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk Region have opened a criminal case,” the department’s telegram channel says .
Investigators have already interrogated the suspect who left the child to die in 25-degree frost. She has been assigned the necessary forensic examinations. At the moment, the issue of choosing a preventive measure against the negligent mother is being decided.
