The discussion of measures to ensure sustainable supply chains in the new realities of logistics was organized by the Eurasian Economic Commission at the panel session "Digital Transport Transformation: Key Trends and Synergies" within the framework of the 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Trade Facilitation, which is held under the auspices of ESCAP in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).The event was opened by Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC Arzybek Kozhoshev and Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Sohail Khan.
The panel session as a discussion platform brought together the business community and experts from international organizations to discuss modern features of transport and logistics in world trade.
The participants of the discussion exchanged views on the main trends in the formation of a "seamless" transport space on the Eurasian continent, as well as identified key factors constraining the processes of digitalization in the transport sector.
During the speeches, the issues of ensuring sustainable supply chains through the introduction of electronic transport documents, the role of innovations and digital tools in the development of transport corridors, the definition of mechanisms for financing joint digital projects, as well as the prospects for cross-border recognition of electronic signature were discussed in detail.
"The partnership of international organizations and associations in the field of integration of digital transport systems allows to gradually form a "seamless" transport space within Greater Eurasia, taking into account the principles of sovereignty and respect for national interests," said Arzybek Kozhoshev.
As a result of the discussions, it was noted that the presence of a developed network of transport, logistics and customs infrastructure, susceptible to digital and intelligent technologies, is today a basic need to maintain economic corridors in the Greater Eurasia region.
The speakers were representatives of the Eurasian Development Bank, the CIS Executive Committee, the Permanent Representative Office of IRU in Eurasia, the Digital Transport Center under the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, JSC UTLC ERA, LLC Gazinformservice, PJSC Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port (FESCO).
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is a universal UN regional commission of member states designed to promote the socio-economic development of the countries of Asia and the Pacific. The panel session as a side-event on the sidelines of the ESCAP forum is organized by the EEC transport block in partnership with the ESCAP Secretariat with the support of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
