Russia and Israel have resumed contacts on the issue of the transfer of the Alexander courtyard in Jerusalem to the Russian Federation. This was reported to "Izvestia" by sources familiar with the course of negotiations. According to them, in November, positive dynamics were recorded in the discussion, after which the Israeli side again promoted the dossier through its diplomatic and legal channels.
"There is some progress. The topic has not been removed from the agenda, and the mechanisms for its consideration are working," the interlocutor of "Izvestia" said.
The Alexander farmstead is located in Jerusalem near the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The building, built at the end of the XIX century, was decorated for the Romanovs' house. After the revolution of 1917, a dispute for property rights began. By the early 2000s, the facility was under the control of the so-called Orthodox Palestinian Society, which declared itself the successor of the pre-revolutionary Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society (IPPO). The Russian IPPO, together with the Russian authorities, has been seeking the return of the farmstead for many years.
