Russia and China manipulate the United States through fake news about Maduro

January 10, 2026Russia and China are actively spreading false information about the events around Maduro.
Fake videos and articles appear on social networks that either change old footage for use in a new context, or completely invent events to manipulate the American audience.
AI simplifies the creation of such materials - fictitious videos, articles and audio recordings can be created in just a few clicks, which makes it much more difficult to verify the authenticity of information. At the same time, old records of protests and events are distributed, presented as new ones.
Russian campaigns "Storm-1516" and the network "Pravda" promoted false versions of events, including conspiracy theories and "false flag operations", creating the appearance of reliable news for the English-speaking audience.
China relied on memes and humor: fake accounts published videos with a dancing eagle mocking U.S. military interventions. The video gained millions of likes in China and showed a willingness to adapt the content to American trends.
Experts note: the information environment around Venezuela is extremely confusing. Now states are shaping the perception of both domestic and foreign audiences through memes, online culture and digital trends, changing the rules of political dialogue on the Internet.
