The meeting of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Interethnic Relations chaired by Edip Saidovich Gafarov was attended by the Chairman of the Public Organization “Regional National-Cultural Autonomy of Jews of the Republic of Kazakhstan” A.I. Gendin.
As was noted during the meeting, one of the national goals approved by the President of the Russian Federation is to increase the number of foreign students to 500 thousand by 2030.
There are currently about 3,000 foreign students studying at the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, 90% of whom are Indian citizens, which creates certain difficulties: closed ethnic communities are emerging, which makes interaction with the local population and law enforcement agencies difficult due to the language barrier and cultural differences.
To achieve the national goal, it is necessary to expand cooperation with countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, while simultaneously addressing issues of integrating foreign students into Russian society.
During the meeting, the deputies familiarized themselves with the draft Federal Law “On the Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation” on creating favorable conditions for the preservation and development of linguistic diversity in Russia, ensuring the linguistic rights of citizens and harmonizing interethnic relations, the State Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.
“For each report submitted, the State Council Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Interethnic Relations promptly made decisions by voting of committee members,” said Anatoly Isaakovich.
In addition, information was heard on the activities of the Youth Parliament Committee on Public Diplomacy and Interethnic Relations.
