One of the most Russian-speaking universities in Israel began teaching in Russian

The course includes the study of academic disciplines in Russian, Hebrew, personal and group support for new citizens of the country, excursions and travel around Israel. Students will receive a scholarship, and, if necessary, social and psychological assistance. 

At the University. Ben-Gurion in Beersheba, one of the most Russian-speaking universities in the Jewish state, the Aliya Le Academy curriculum began its work. It is intended for Russian-speaking students who immigrated to Israel in 2022 and meet the criteria for assistance from the Office of Immigrant Student Affairs (age from 17 to 27 years old, high school diploma, etc. - a full list is available on the website of the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration by reference ). 

The course includes the study of academic disciplines in Russian, Hebrew, personal and group support for new citizens of the country, excursions and travel around Israel. Students will receive a scholarship, and, if necessary, social and psychological assistance. 

43 students have already joined the program, organized by the university with the support of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, the Jewish Agency and private benefactors. 

In the summer of 2023, participants in the Aliya Le Academy program, as well as all other future students, will be able to apply for further education at the University. Ben Gurion. Their chances of doing so will be greatly enhanced by learning Hebrew as part of the 1,000-hour academic program that is part of Aliya Le Academy.

“Scientists and specialists from various fields, as well as young people who are just about to enter a higher educational institution, are a real gift for the State of Israel,” says Alena Kushnir, head of international relations at the University. Ben Gurion. “This unique program allows for higher education, and thanks to private donations and organizations that support the program, its participants will be able to devote all their free time to studying.”

The presentation of the program "Aliya Le-Academy" coincided with a visit to the University. Ben-Gurion of the delegation of the Russian Jewish Congress, headed by RJC President Yuri Kanner, who arrived in Israel. More than 50 trustees and leaders of Jewish communities from Tyumen to Kaliningrad, members of the Presidium and the Public Council of the RJC took part in the events of the trip. The purpose of the visit was to establish relationships with various Jewish communities living today around the world, and to feel like a part of a single people. Cooperation in the field of charity, education, culture and the preservation of the memory of the Holocaust was discussed. The RJC delegation was received in Jerusalem by Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog.
