Odyssey movie
Quote from Ryan Augustine on July 19, 2026, 22:12So I watched the Odyssey movie last night. Not at the theater, paying for it would be ridiculous. The blackwashing in the film is ridiculous, its everything the critics said it was. Pwrhaps more importantly was jusg how dark amd stupid the movie was, which sesms to be a theme in every modern hollgwood historical adaptation. For instance everyone had to wear some shade of black. In actualith the ancient world was a very colorful place and fhe go to color would be white (sailors did not wear black leather, in the open ocean, under the sun all day, how stupid). I ended up skipping through the movie to the best parts after suffering for and hour.
Anyways hollywood like to sell itself as the vanguard of progressiveness and humanism, but the reality is they are evil and hate people, especially white.people.
For instance hollywood always frames things in a humaniatic light then takes away all the coolest things humans did. In Homers odysee Odyseus is extremelg cunning and reasons his way out of many predicaments, hes also a badass. In this movie everyone is an idiot amd odyseus is maybe as smart as Homer Simpson. Maybe casting indians and subsaharan africans makes sense in that way.
A personal axe of mine to grind is the the way the Lord of the Rings films took Tolkiens theme of Good vs. Evil, light vs. Shadow and made it about the human race and the age of men surviving. Then they took all the best things men did out of the films. For instance the battles of helms deep and pelennor fields were won by men through their valor, courage, and strength of arms, not by elves trees, ghosts, or magic.

All the remakes these days utterly suck. Christopher Nolan had a few good movies but hasn’t made a decent one in awhile.
