Matthew 27:25 “His blood be on us and our children.”

The New Testament and the Catholic Church, teach that they are guilty of the blood of Christ and deicide in a unique way. The unanimous consensus of the Fathers teaches that Christ-denying Jews inherited this unique guilt; Therfore, on this point alone, this truth must be believed.

Vatican Council, 1870, Session 2, Profession of Faith: “3. Likewise I accept sacred
scripture according to that sense which holy mother church held and holds, since it
is her right to judge of the true sense and interpretation of the holy scriptures; nor
will I ever receive and interpret them except according to the unanimous consent of
the fathers.”

Saint John Chrysostom: “Here [in the local synagogue] the slayers of Christ gather together, here the cross is driven out, here God is blasphemed, here the Father is ignored, here the Son is outraged, here the grace of the Spirit is rejected. Does not greater harm come from this place since the Jews themselves are demons?” (First Homily Against the Jews)

Saint Gregory of Nyssa: “The Jews are murderers of the Lord. …They are guilty of shouting: ‘Away with him, away with him! Crucify him!’ He who was God in the flesh!” (Oration on the Resurrection of Christ)

Saint Cyprian: “Nor is it sufficient that we call Him who is in Heaven ‘Father.’ We must add to the name ‘Our Father.’ This name rebukes and condemns the Jews who not only spurned Christ faithlessly, but also cruelly executed Him Who was announced to them by the prophets, and sent first to their nation. No longer may they call God their Father, because the Lord confounds and refutes them, saying: ‘your father is the devil’ [Jn. 8:44]. O sinful nation, O people weighed down with guilt, breed of evil-doers, lawless children, you have turned your backs on the Lord and have provoked the Holy One of Israel.” (The Lord's Prayer)

St. Basil the Great: “If someone should kill the son of a man, and then stretch forth his hands still stained with blood to the afflicted father, asking for fellowship, would not the blood of his son, visible on the hand of his murderer, provoke him to just anger instead? And such are the prayers of the Jews, for when they stretch forth their hands in prayer, they only remind God-the-Father of their sin against His Son. And at every stretching-forth of their hands, they only make it obvious that they are stained with the blood of Christ. For they who persevere in their blindness inherit the blood-guilt of their fathers; for they cried out: ‘His blood be upon us, and upon our children’ (Mt. 27:25)” (On Prayer, Sermon IX, PG 32; SS vol. Pope Innocent III: “The Lord made Cain a wanderer and fugitive over the earth, but set a mark upon him, making his head to shake, lest anyone finding him should slay him. Thus the Jews, against whom the blood of Christ calls out, although they ought not be killed, nevertheless, as wanderers they must remain upon the earth until their faces are filled with shame and they seek the name of Jesus Christ the Lord.” (Epistle to the Count of Nevers, 1208; Patrologiae Cursus Completus: 215.)

Saint Cyprian: “By this alone the Jews can receive pardon of their sins, if they wash away the blood of Christ slain, in His baptism, and, passing over into His Church, obey His precepts. In Isaiah the Lord says: “Now I will not release your sins. When ye stretch forth your hands, I will turn away my face from you; and if ye multiply prayers, I will not hear you: for your hands are full of blood.”” (Against the Jews) 

Consecration Of The Human Race To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus, Pope Pius XI, Dec. 11, 1925: “Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race… Many indeed have never known Thee; many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart. …Turn Thine eyes of mercy towards the children of that race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Saviour; may It now descend upon them a laver of redemption and life…”

St. Augustine: "The Jews wander over the entire earth, their backs bent and their eyes cast downward, forever calling to our minds the curse they carry with them." ("Against the Jews," Patrologiae Cursus Completus: Series Graca, Fr. J. P. Migne, Paris: 1866, 42:51)

St. Agobard: "Jews are cursed and covered with malediction. The curse has penetrated them like water in their bowels and oil in their bones. They are cursed in the city and cursed in the country, cursed in their coming in and cursed in their going out. St. Gregory of Nyssa: "Jews are slayers of the Lord, murderers of the prophets, enemies and haters of God, adversaries of grace, enemies of their fathers‘ faith, advocates of the devil, a brood of vipers, slanderers, scoffers, men of darkened minds, the leaven of Pharisees, a congregation of demons, sinners, wicked men, haters of goodness." (The Anguish of the Jews, Fr. St. Augustine: "Judaism, since Christ, is a corruption; indeed, Judas is the image of the Jewish people: their understanding of Scripture is carnal; they bear the guilt for the death of the Savior, for through their fathers they have killed Christ. The Jews held Him; the Jews insulted Him; the Jews bound Him; they crowned Him with thorns and dishonored Him by spitting upon Him; they scourged Him; they heaped abuses upon Him; they hung Him upon a tree." ("The Faith of the Early Fathers," Fr. William Jurgens, Collegeville, MN: Liturgical Press, 1979, vol. III: 1536)

St. Paul accuses the Christ-denying Jews of being guilty, not just of the blood Christ, but also of the prophets: “The Jews, who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the Prophets…" (1 Thess 2:15)

Christ-denying Jews are under a curse of spiritual blindness;

St. Paul confirms that this curse has come upon Christ-denying Jews, who cannot understand the true meaning of the Old Testament: “But their senses were made dull. For, until this present day, the selfsame veil, in the reading of the old testament, remaineth not taken away (because in Christ it is made void). But even until this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.” (2 Cor. 3:14-15)

St. Augustine, The City of God XVIII:46; Concerning Faith of Things Not Seen 9: "‘Let their eyes be darkened lest they see, and bow down their back always.‘Therefore, when the Jews do not believe our Scriptures, their own which they blindly read, are fulfilled in them… whilst they read, let them not wonder that they, whose are the books, understand not by reason of the darkness of enmity. For that they would not understand was foretold beforehand by the same Prophets; which it behoved should be fulfilled in like manner as the rest, and by the secret and just judgment of God a due punishment should be rendered to their deserts. 'Let their eyes be darkened that they see not, and ever bow Thou down their back.' Thus, having with them the clear testimonies of our cause, they walk around with their eyes darkened, that by their means those testimonies might be proved, wherein they themselves are disproved. …In their books our supporters, in their hearts our enemies, in their copies our witnesses."
