Israel presented an artificial intelligence system that predicts world crises

In Israel, the work of a unique state development called "Horizon" was revealed - a set of systems created for early detection of global trends and possible crises.

This is reported by the portal "Ynet".

We are talking about the strategic forecasting laboratory operating in the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. The head of the direction, Dr. Victor Israel, explained that the task of the project is to give the government signals about the upcoming processes in a timely manner and help adapt public policy.

According to him, "Horizon" unites several platforms. One of them tracks social and political trends, the other - technological trends, the third analyzes supply chains, and the fourth, the most difficult, is still under development. In total, the system divides the world into eight spheres - from ideologies and demography to international relations, economics and geopolitics - and considers them in an interrelation.

Dr. Israel noted that the developments have already proven their effectiveness. Back in 2018, Horizon warned of the growing rivalry between the United States and China, predicted the acceleration of the development of robotics and predicted the coronavirus pandemic. Now analysts record the transition from a unipolar to a multipolar world, the growth of social inequality and the likelihood of protracted regional wars.

"This is not a tool for academic forecasts, but a laboratory of changing reality. Israel should be ready for shocks, and not wait for them to hit us," Israel said.

Former Minister of Intelligence Gila Gamliel stressed that the project "strengthens Israel's scientific independence and increases its technological security".

The system is financed on a relatively modest scale - about 4-5 million shekels per year, but according to experts, its potential will allow Israel to build long-term strategies in the economy, education, defense and international relations.
