The Knesset and a number of cities in Israel will host events in honor of the Victory Day over Nazi Germany, there will be no official parade
The state event in honor of Victory Day will be held on the morning of May 9 in the Knesset. Representatives of the Union of Veterans of World War II, representatives of youth organizations, Minister of Aliyah and Integration Ofir Sofer and other employees of the ministry will attend the festive event.
Recall that until last year, under the auspices of the Ministry of Aliyah, parades of veterans were held in Jerusalem on May 9, but last year, by decision of the former Ministry of Aliyah and Integration of Pnina Tamene Shete, the parade was canceled, and foreigners were not invited to the solemn event, as was done earlier. diplomats. Formally, this was explained by concern for the health of veterans who find it difficult to endure parades in the May heat.
Victory Day events will also be held in Holon, Rehovot, Bat Yam, Haifa, Netanya, Kiryat Yam and some other cities in Israel.
