Israel will be represented at the Victory Parade on May 9 in Moscow, said the Ambassador of the Jewish state to Russia Simone Halperin, TASS writes.
"I promise in advance, I will participate [in the parade] this year as well," she said.
She noted that historical facts do not change due to geopolitical or other circumstances: "Israel decided in the Knesset (parliament) in 2017 that Victory Day would be celebrated on May 9."
The parade in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory will be held in Moscow on May 9. Russian President Vladimir Putin invited President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Mongolian President Ukhnagiin Khurelsuh, Vietnamese leader To Lam, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Laos President Thonglun Sisulit, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, etc.
In December 2024 The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution of the Russian Federation to combat the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. 53 countries opposed the resolution, including Germany, Italy, Canada, the United States, Ukraine and Japan.
