A couple reasons why Eastern Culture is inferior

My industry is governed by a certification body which issues certifications that allow for industry advancement.

A couple years ago I took one of the entry level certification programs and the exam at the end was really hard. The instructor remarked to us beforehand that they had had to make the exam very difficult because in Asian culture their term for cheating is cunning.

You hear stuff like that and its so very alien to what we have built in our countries that it may as well be from another planet. In this example I believe the instructor was referring to east Asian cultures. India has its own version of cunning, they call it Jugaad and it is a virtue in Indian culture.

To give you an example of Jugaad in practice let us go back to British rule of India, colloquially known as the good old days. In those days there was an infestation of cobras in India, the snakes had become such a nuisance that the British, in an attempt to reduce the population, offered to pay a bounty for every cobra head brought to them. The Indian's in their cunning decided the best thing to do would be to tirelessly hunt for the snakes and thus with a little financial incentive they could make India a better. Lol no the Indians bred cobras to and sold the heads to the colonial magistrates, and so massive cobra farms sprung up overnight. It was not long before the British caught wind of this ridiculous low-IQ scam and quit paying bounties on snakes. Unfortunately for the Indians the farms were abandoned and the cobras went wild, their snake problems became much worse.

There is another Indian virtue, which I am sure has its counterparts in other eastern countries, called Izzat. Izzat basically means your social status is determined by who can make you do things, and who cannot. This is different from the western concept of duties and rights, and noblesse oblige, where the upper classes are expected to act in accordant grace with their status. Izzat is different, Izzat basically means I can throw my trash in the street because the lower caste picks it up. One of the profound things I learned about India recently, and I lost the source sorry, is that the caste system was an British invention. It was how the British made sense of India, they lumped everyone into broad categories. The true caste system of India is that there are a million castes of individuals trying to screw each other over and figure out who is who on the poo pecking order.

It should come as no surprise that there used to be massive cyclical famines in Asia. Whereas, although we have had times of hunger and some famines like the Irish Famine, the west has not see anything like these in scope and scale.

Ironically these Eastern Virtues have lead to a very tyrannical collectivist style of social governance, for no other reason than to hold society together. The very individuality driven nature of cheating, scamming, and treating others like crap directly corresponds to a top down authoritarian collectivism to manage it all. It should serve as a warning that the misuse of individuality serves to erode and replace it.

In the west we enjoy a lot of freedom and liberty because we have conscientiously built a social structure based on good virtues. So that even communal ones, such as charity add to our individuality and freedom by giving us a stable and good foundation to live in.
