One of the Russian Orthodox clergy in the Irkutsk Oblast violated the secret of the confession and cooperated with the Russian services in the sense of a penitent who did not support the Russian armed attack on Ukraine.
The parish priest of God's Wisdom (Saint Sophia) parish in the village of Tielma, Fr. Sergei Kandybin reported to the local branch of the Federal Security Service (FSB) about his parishioner who confessed during his confession that he was praying for the victory of Ukraine struggling with Russian armed aggression.
The Orthodox parish priest did not like the "anti-war" attitude of the parishioner - Sergei Uglanica, and the fact that the man put candles in the local church in the intention of Ukraine's victory in this armed conflict.
As a result, Uglanica was held liable under Art. 20.3.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation on "activities aimed at causing hostility or hatred".
In Orthodoxy, the 'ear' confession takes place not in the confessional, but at a lectern with an icon.
