Synagogue Acquaintance Day Held in St. Petersburg, Russia

In St. Petersburg, the Synagogue Introduction Day took place – an educational event for the general public.
It is symbolic that the Acquaintance Day took place on December 8 – the 131st birthday of the St. Petersburg Synagogue!
The event was attended by over 500 visitors. Guests entered in small groups of 30 people. This allowed everyone to get the maximum impressions and information.
For St. Petersburg residents, this was an opportunity to come into close contact with Jewish culture and the life of the St. Petersburg Synagogue.
The guests were shown around the halls of the Synagogue and told about its history, architecture, and the foundations of Judaism.

The tour route included the Central and Wedding Halls, and the Small Synagogue.
An important part of the program was the demonstration of religious objects - visitors were shown a kiddush cup and accessories for havdalah, Shabbat candlesticks, a tallit, tefillin, a box for tzedakah... The demonstration was accompanied by a detailed story about the structure and purpose of each object.
Excursions throughout the day were conducted by the head of the Excursion and Educational Department of the Synagogue, Valery Stolov, as well as Inna Aronova, Maxim Mosenzhnik and Sergey Podlesny.
