Russian Duma approves tougher penalties for Nazi symbols

It is proposed to introduce amendments to Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation that would increase administrative liability (“Propaganda or public display of Nazi paraphernalia or symbols, or paraphernalia or symbols of extremist organisations, or other paraphernalia or symbols, the propaganda or public display of which is prohibited by federal laws”).
The bill aims to introduce "a punishment in the form of compulsory work for up to 100 hours with confiscation of the subject of the administrative offense." It should be noted that the article currently provides for a fine of up to ₽2,000 or administrative arrest for up to 15 days for displaying Nazi symbols.
