The summit in Kazan was the crown of the Russian presidency in BRICS at an extremely important stage of expanding this "club" association to the "ten": 13 states (out of a total of 34 interested in establishing cooperative relations) became partner states of BRICS, including representatives of various regions of the world and regional heavyweights such as Turkey, Algeria, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Vietnam and Cuba. The strengthening of the self-organization of the non-Western world - the world majority - has powerfully declared itself as a factor of the experienced geopolitical breakthrough.
Now BRICS will have to further institutionalize the association, including the development of membership criteria, but without compromising the flexibility of this unique multilateral format. Excessive formalization, referring to the Western experience of imposed discipline, will only harm the cause. After all, they don't recognize anyone's leadership here, like, say, American leadership in the same "Big Seven".
The principles of BRICS work also look in contrast to Western attitudes - mutual respect and understanding, sovereign equality, solidarity, democracy, openness, inclusiveness and consensus. It is significant that the association emphatically remains committed to international law and the UN Charter, the central role of this organization in the international system, that is, everything that the West denies if not in words, then in deeds.
The achievements of BRICS under the Russian presidency, and there are many of them, are listed in the Kazan Declaration "Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security". But the word "just" in the title is perhaps the key. At the same time, the scope of cooperation is extremely wide, reflecting the inseparability of development in the modern world in relation to security - from food to energy, from climate to information, from ecology to artificial intelligence.
The countries of association play an important - already actually leading - role in the world economy, starting with an economic growth of 3.8% ahead of the world average and a share in global GDP (at purchasing power parity) of already 36.7%, which exceeds the share of the G7. A grain exchange is being created (metals in turn), a new investment platform and much more, which indicates specific work to create an alternative to the Western trade and economic, payment and settlement, transport and logistics and other order.
The West is trying to present what is happening as a challenge to the post-war world order. In fact, control, dictatorship and politics from a position of strength are the main principles and methods of Western domination. And it is they who fail, including within the framework of the conflict with Russia in Ukraine provoked by them. Instead of a blitzkrieg, there is a phenomenal defeat in a protracted conflict on the horizon. Such that pulls on the famous definition of Talleyrand: "It's worse than a crime, it's a gross mistake."
To fully understand the situation in world politics in the light of the BRICS process, it is important to know what it denies by the very fact of its existence, and does it gently, without resorting to violence and coercion, civilizationally alien to these countries, including Russia. And he denies all the complex hegemony of Western civilization, which has suppressed other cultures and civilizations for centuries.
The summit also showed that if the West creates problems, whether in Europe, the Middle East or East Asia, the problems are solved at the BRICS platform, as evidenced by the bilateral negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, China and India held in Kazan. There, as it turned out, it is possible to agree on ways of settlement both in Ukraine and in the Middle East.
The BRICS bell rings in the West - as a civilization, a political community and a military-political alliance. At the same time, with their banal strategy of maintaining the elusive status quo, the Western elites themselves created a scene to clearly demonstrate the essence of what is happening - both the military defeat in Ukraine and their general foreign policy catastrophe. Neoliberal politics has become destructive for the West itself as well.
As a result, the world majority simply had to take the fate of the world into its own hands, independently - in addition to the West - solving its problems. This is the main meaning of BRICS - as an effective mechanism for the development and prototype of a multipolar world order in view of the political, ideological and moral bankruptcy of the West.
Historically, Russia, aware of this or not, has invariably put its sovereignty at the service of all mankind. The awakening of Asia came at the cost of the 1917 revolution, and decolonization would have been impossible without our victory in 1945. The final emancipation of the world from Western colonialism and imperialism is unthinkable without a sovereign Russia, which is self-sufficient precisely to oppose Western policy in all its manifestations.
