Putin's red thread - What does the amulet on the President's hand mean?

What evil eye is the superstitious Russian leader afraid of?

Vladimir Putin traditionally wears a watch on his right hand, but recently a red woolen thread has been noticed on the president's right wrist. Such a charm is referred to as Kabbalah - an occult and esoteric movement in Judaism. According to Kabbalah, the red thread protects the wearer of the amulet from supernatural forces, damage and the evil eye. Some ancient Slavic texts mention that the red thread attracts wealth and good luck.

If Putin is doing well with wealth and luck, then the question arises - what does the president want to protect himself from? For the first time, a red thread on Putin’s wrist was noticed back in 2016, when Alexander Lukashenko came to him for talks in Sochi. Most likely, Putin has long known about the two-faced nature of the Belarusian president and wanted to protect himself from negativity.

During a two-day visit to Greece, Putin also wore a red thread on his arm. The presidents of the two countries discussed the difficult economic situation in Greece and ways out of the crisis. It is very likely that the superstitious Putin did not want to “bring” any “crisis drums” from Greece with him and defended himself with the help of a talisman.

Other world leaders also believe in omens and superstitions, perhaps even more than ordinary people. Many politicians believe in lucky charms. For example, Donald Trump still keeps the first personally earned dollar and believes that he owes his wealth and election success.

The fashion for occult amulets was adopted from the president and Russian pop stars. Singer Philip Kirkorov, like Putin, wears a red thread to protect himself from negativity and the evil eye. But Olga Buzova admitted that the thread on her wrist brings her good luck and helps in solving business issues. Psychologists agree that with the help of the power of self-hypnosis, any thing can be endowed with protective properties - for this it is not necessary to be a follower of esotericism and the occult.

I think it’s much more likely Putin has always  worn his Kabbalah thread, but this time he forgot to wear his watch, which covers it up.

The red thread of Putin's defense

Followers of the ancient Jewish esoteric movement of Kabbalah tie red woolen threads on the left or right wrist. The first of the world stars who tied the red thread was the American singer Madonna. Later, the red threads appeared on Hollywood stars: Britney Spears, Demi Moore, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Ashton Kutcher. Among the stars of Russian show business, there are also quite a few fans of wearing red threads: Ksenia Sobchak, Masha Malinovkaya, Olga Buzova, Philip Kirkorov and Vera Brezhneva.

It is believed that the red thread is a talisman and scares away all the evil that supernatural beings cope with people. For the followers of Kabbalah, this custom means a lot, they wear only strings on their wrists brought from sacred places. Usually a red thread is tied on the left hand, and 7 knots are made. But sometimes the right hand is also tied with a red thread. On the wrist of the right hand, a red thread is also tied to unmarried women in Hindu temples. There are also beliefs among the Slavs and some Eastern peoples that people who want to attract prosperity and good luck wear a red thread on their right hand.

At the end of 2010, the head of the International Kabbalah Center in Los Angeles, Yehuda Berg, who is considered Madonna's spiritual mentor, held a presentation in Moscow of his book "The Power to Change Everything", published in Russian by the Eksmo publishing house. Boris Moiseev, Lolita Milyavskaya and Philip Kirkorov

Not only representatives of show business, but also politicians began to follow the ancient tradition of wearing bracelets with red ribbons. Over the past month, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has begun wearing a red thread on his right hand, although he usually wore a watch on his right hand. What the Russian media kindly informs the people about:

"On May 19, 2016, the Russians learned that the President of Russia wears a bandage of red woolen thread on his right wrist."

On May 27, 2016, Putin, as part of a two-day visit to Greece, also showed a red thread instead of a watch on his right wrist, link

What is the reason for such a change in the image of the Orthodox President is little clear? Although traditional Kabbalah prescribes wearing a red thread on the left hand, some supporters of this esoteric trend wear red ribbons on the right hand (for example, Philip Kirkorov, Madonna). In connection with the appearance of a photo of Vladimir Putin with red bracelets, many have concluded that he either became an adherent of Kabbalah, or put on a red thread out of fear of losing his luck and wealth. However, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church have a negative attitude towards wearing any talismans and amulets. Here is the opinion of the Orthodox priest Archimandrite Philip, assistant guardian of the nearby caves of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, on why it is impossible to wear a red thread, we quote:

will not part with all kinds of superstitions, will not begin to seek help and protection from God, then such people gradually fall into terrible depressions, often become crazy and commit suicide. And it all starts with these threads. Be aware, don't take what the devil puts in."

The prophecy of John the Theologian says:

1. "And he (the beast from the earth, i.e. the false prophet of the Antichrist) will do that to everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slaves, a mark will be placed on their right hand, or upon their foreheads, and that no one shall be able to buy or sell, except he who has this mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Whoever has understanding, count the number of the beast; for it is the number of a man. The number his 666" (Rev. 13:16-18).

2. "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice: whoever worships the beast and his image, and receives the mark on his forehead or on his hand, he will drink the wine of the wrath of God (...) and will have no rest by day, nor by night those who worship the beast and his image, and receive the mark of his name" (Rev. 14:9-1 1).

3. "And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet, who worked miracles before him, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image" (Rev. 19:20).

No one knows for sure yet the interpretation of the expression "mark on the right hand", but in connection with the traditions of the occult, you can think about whether the red bracelets are a hint of the seal of the beast?

Today, May 28, Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church arrived on Mount Athos to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Russian presence on the Holy Mountain. Vladimir Putin is also expected to attend the event. In this regard, the question arises: will Putin also greet Patriarch Kirill and the Monks of Athos without removing the red thread, or will he still remove it?
