Putin smiles as socialist African leader Afwerki laments 'collapse' of USSR

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in the course of relations between Russia and Africa, a foundation for strong cooperation has been formed. His words are quoted by TASS.
“In Soviet times, there was an opinion that they wasted money on Africa, but now we think about it with gratitude - this is a foundation for the strength of cooperation,” Putin recalled.
Earlier, Putin smiled after the words of Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki about the collapse of the USSR. “The collapse of the USSR was the greatest tragedy and catastrophe for the whole world,” said the Eritrean leader, causing the Russian leader to smile.
