Priming the pump

This is the best quick metaphor I could think of (after a few drinks) to describe this following concept.

That historical, political, legal, social, (insert descriptor), realities, necessary follow from changes in the way people perceive the world. This has been described as the spirit of the times, the zeitgeist, collective consciousness, etc. But basically the idea is that about three generations before a big shift happens the concepts have to be introduced into the human psyche. Ie before something can be realized we have to believe it’s possible. I see this pattern repeating throughout the last five hundred years of history where a generation is living out the ideas introduced to it many years ago.

Anyways I wanted to get peoples thoughts and make sure I’m not just drunk.

I think there's a quote out there about the need for three immoral generations before a revolution is possible. We definitely have it in the States and then some, esp. with the Baby Boomers and Gens X, Y and Z.

I thing your right, quite astute
