Patriarch Kirill approves the interaction of the clergy and the army in Israel

The interaction of the clergy with the education system and the armed forces in Israel can be an example for Russia, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' said at a meeting with Israeli Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar on Sunday in Jerusalem.

 

JERUSALEM, November 11 - RIA Novosti. The interaction of the clergy with the education system and the armed forces in Israel can be an example for Russia, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' said at a meeting with Israeli Chief Sephardic Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar on Sunday in Jerusalem.

The patriarch noted that Judaism in Israel and Orthodoxy in Russia are the religions of the majority, so many of the problems facing them are close, since the leaders of these religions in their countries bear spiritual responsibility for virtually the entire nation.

“Therefore, we are interested in a lot of your religious practice in the field of education, work in the armed forces and other areas. In some areas, Israel can set a good example for Russia. traditions in the public life of people," the patriarch said.

He noted that four traditional Russian religions - Orthodoxy, Judaism, Islam and Buddhism - are present in the armed forces. "But as for the interaction of our clergy with the armed forces, this level is still much lower than in Israel," the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church stated.
