In 2024, the Russian Orthodox Church received 311 million rubles of grants for its projects from the state, which is 16% more than in 2023, but less than in the first year of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as estimated by "Verstka".
The church spends this money, among other things, on shelters, hospitals, canteens for the poor, Orthodox camps and lectures by priests on "traditional values". It is not known whether this amount includes fees for priests, since Orthodox legal entities do not provide cost estimates in the applications, the publication notes.
The Russian Orthodox Church received 5 million rubles, in particular, for the "prevention of orphanhood and abortion". With this money, the church plans to help mothers and pregnant women: to maintain a small shelter in the Tver region and organize courses of "psychological recovery" in the Moscow region. The Russian Orthodox Church received another 600 thousand rubles for a family club in the Tomsk region and lectures on "family values" for schoolchildren and students of this region, the publication notes.
2022 was a record year for the support of the church, writes "Verstka". Then the Russian Orthodox Church received almost half a billion rubles from the state in the form of grants.
