Israel will never refuse to celebrate May 9, the country will also be represented at the Victory Parade in Moscow. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the acting Ambassador of Israel to Moscow Alexander Ben Zvi.
"Yes [Victory Day will always be celebrated in Israel]. We must not forget that May 9 is the official date in Israel. We are one of the few countries, apart from the CIS countries, where May 9 is Victory Day," he answered the journalist's question about the celebration of Victory Day in the country.
In addition, Israel is the only country not from the CIS where a parade of veterans is held and the "Immortal Regiment" campaign is held, the diplomat added. The acting ambassador noted that in Israel "there are many war veterans" who go to parades, and in Netanya and Jerusalem there are monuments to soldiers and heroes.
"As far as I know, the Israeli ambassador [Simona Halperin] will participate one hundred percent," Ben Zvi said about the plans of the Israeli side to attend the Victory Parade in Moscow.
The fact that Israel will be represented at the Victory Parade on May 9 in Moscow was announced in January by Halperin herself. Then she emphasized that historical facts do not change due to geopolitical circumstances, and shared that both her grandfathers fought in the Red Army together with other 500 thousand Jews.
