In Russia, a YouTube blogger was sentenced to five years for allegedly taking a metro map to Ukraine

The Moscow City Court has sentenced Andrey Pyzh, the host of the YouTube channel Urbanturizm, to five years in a penal colony in the case of exporting information containing state secrets abroad. This was announced on October 29 by the Moscow prosecutor's office.

Andrey Pyzh was detained in August 2020 in one of the Moscow restaurants, TASS reported . The blogger was accused of allegedly taking to the territory of Ukraine, where he lived in recent years, a flash drive with documents about the Moscow metro that he needed for the video,  TASS wrote .

In September 2020, Pyzh retracted his earlier confessions and stated that he denied his guilt,  Kommersant reported .

Baza wrote that it was about the secret underground schemes of Metro-2.

"In the period from December 2018 to August 2020, an attacker illegally obtained information constituting a state secret regarding the design features and technical systems of some secure facilities located in the Moscow region," the Moscow prosecutor's office said .

According to the Russian human rights center "Memorial", Andrei Pyzh has dual citizenship: Russian and Ukrainian.

Andrey Pyzh, 35, is a popular video blogger known as Andrey MSH. More than 800 thousand people subscribed to his video blog on YouTube. Pyzh specializes in shooting reports from industrial facilities and transport infrastructure, including abandoned ones.

"Metro-2" is the unofficial name of the former secret underground transport facilities for mobilization purposes in Moscow.
