Governor of Russia's Jewish Autonomous Oblast one of few not to be sanctioned by West

The governor of the Jewish Autonomous Region, Rostislav Goldstein, was the only head of the region in Russia who did not fall under US sanctions, a new package of which was adopted on February 24. Among those who fell under the restrictions were 48 Russian governors, who were not previously subject to sanctions. The remaining heads of regions were included in the sanctions list (SDN list) of the US Treasury Department last year.
The governor of the JAO is not on this list, and, as the head of the region admitted, such injustice causes him moral suffering. “If you want to ask why I alone did not get into the sanctions lists, I will say this: I will sue them, in Strasbourg! They cause moral suffering, bastards. I do not comment on this topic,” the governor told RTVI.
Recall that the sanctions provide for the blocking of the assets of persons subject to restrictions. In addition, American legal entities and individuals in the United States and abroad are prohibited from any transactions with those on the sanctions list.
Rostislav Goldstein has been the Governor of the JAO since September 2020. Prior to that, Goldstein was a State Duma deputy and a member of the Federation Council.
That Jews have an autonomous region in Russia was a fact I never knew, nor ever expected to read.
