Chabad opens Russian-speaking Lubavitch centre in Israel's old city of Beersheba
Quote from Timothy Fitzpatrick on August 19, 2023, 17:14The new center of the Russian-speaking Chabad-Lubavitch Center “Itgalut”, which opened in the Old City of Beersheba, does not allow anyone to remain indifferent.
August 13, 2023Dear friends! Thanks to your help in the campaign a year ago, a real revolution is taking place in Beersheba in everything related to Torah and commandments, mutual aid and Jewish life, and most importantly, of course, in everything related to the theme of Moshiach and Liberation. The new center of the Russian-speaking Chabad-Lubavitch Center “Itgalut”, which opened in the Old City of Beersheba, does not allow anyone to remain indifferent. Anyone who visits the Old City cannot fail to notice and marvel at the impressive beauty of this place, which has even been awarded the title of "the most beautiful Chabad center in the world." This place is full of life from early morning until late evening. Residents of the city or tourists, old-timers and new repatriates constantly come. In this place, public prayers and Torah lessons are held, tefillin and mezuzahs are checked and, of course, they turn to the Lubavitcher Rebbe SHLITA King Moshiach for a request for blessings and advice through the Igrot Kodesh.
Particular attention is paid to the provision of material and spiritual assistance to the Russian-speaking population, and especially to new repatriates who have recently arrived in Israel. Before holidays and historical dates, our center organizes lessons and meetings with famous Russian-speaking rabbis and lecturers, thanks to which new repatriates get acquainted with the basics of Judaism and Hasidism.
Many residents of the city already know that the bar mitzvah, circumcision, redemption of the firstborn, etc. should be performed in a place that combines beauty with a special atmosphere of holiness. Here you can also get detailed instructions for those who do it for the first time, which is especially important for new repatriates.
Rebbe SHLITA King Moshiach teaches us that the most important thing is to help a Jew, first of all in a material sense. The difficult economic situation of many residents of the city, especially new repatriates, forced the management of the Itgalut Center to make a bold decision: we are opening a mutual assistance center and before every Saturday and holidays we will distribute food to hundreds of families. In addition, in cooperation with the Anashim organization, a special supermarket has been opened in our center, where those in need can buy products at nominal prices.
Thanks to the righteous women, our forefathers were liberated from Egypt and thanks to them we will be honored with the future Liberation ...
The Chabad center in the Old City hosts extensive activities for women, which include lessons on the topic of Moshiach and Liberation, the laws of purity of family life, and the weekly Torah portion. In addition, a festive women's feast takes place every month in honor of the new moon, as well as in honor of Jewish holidays and Hasidic dates.
Along with activities in the new branch in the Old Town, the Itgalut Center in the Neve Zeev area is constantly expanding its work. The established Hasidic community has doubled and even tripled in the past year; on Saturdays, holidays and weekdays there are prayers, Torah lessons in a variety of languages (Hebrew, Russian, Spanish, etc.).
In addition to regular activities, special seasonal events are also held, such as the lighting of Hanukkah candles at several central locations in the area, and the distribution of Hanukkah sets to residents. During the holiday of Purim, activists read the Scroll of Esther around the clock and distribute thousands of parcels of holiday gifts. The Itgalut Center organizes a public Passover Seder, which is attended by hundreds of Beersheba residents, old-timers and new immigrants.
There are also classes for women and special events for children. For example, the children's parade on Lag B'Omer in the Neve Zeev region has already become a tradition, and the children of the region are looking forward to this special event throughout the year…
Rebbe SHLITA King Moshiach teaches us that one cannot be satisfied with what has been achieved, but constantly strives to increase activity many times over. In other words, we must all take part in a positive, peaceful Jewish “revolution” that will culminate without a doubt in the absolute revelation of Rebbe SHLITA King Moshiach and the coming of true and complete Liberation, immediately, right now! And this revolution will happen thanks to you!
