U.S. President Donald Trump denied the information that he sent a congratulatory letter to the scandalous financier Jeffrey Epstein. In response to a publication in The Wall Street Journal, which claims that Trump congratulated Epstein with an "indecent" letter, the head of the White House threatened a lawsuit for defamation. He reported this on his page in the Truth Social social network.
An article published in the Wall Street Journal says that in 2003 Trump sent Epstein a greeting card depicting the contours of a naked woman, allegedly drawn by hand with a bold marker. The text of the postcard read: "Happy birthday - and let every day be another wonderful secret." The letter was finished with the signature "Donald".
"I have never drawn or painted pictures in my life. I don't draw women, it's not my style, and it's not my words," Trump said, commenting on the publication.
Jeffrey Epstein is an American financier who has twice been tried on charges of inducing minors to prostitution. In 2008, everything ended with a deal with the investigation, in which the billionaire was sentenced to 13 months in prison.
In 2019, Epstein was arrested again on the same charges. The number of identified victims of the financier was estimated in dozens. Less than a month after his arrest, Jeffrey was found dead in a pre-trial detention cell. According to the official conclusion, he died voluntarily. A private investigation conducted by the family of the deceased showed that Epstein's death was violent.
In February, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi told Fox News that she had a "list of clients" to whom Jeffrey Epstein offered sexual services of underage girls. However, later she withdreated her words, explaining that she did not mean the list of accomplices of the financier, but the case materials as a whole. Then Pam Bondi published some of the declassified documents on the case, including copies of the on-board logs of Epstein's private plane, an address book, a list of evidence and a "list of masseuses". Last week, the Department of Justice and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation published a memo stating that there was no "list of clients", but U.S. senators demand the publication of documents on this case, that the White House is in no hurry to do so. There is no evidence of Trump's involvement in Epstein's crimes, although the politician himself and his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach are mentioned in the case file.
