TEL AVIV, April 12. /TASS/. Military Secretary of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Major General Roman Hoffman, has been confirmed as Director of the Mossad Intelligence Service. This was reported by the office of the head of the Israeli government.
According to her statement, on Sunday evening, Hoffman's candidacy was approved by the advisory committee on appointments to senior positions. After receiving approval from this committee, Netanyahu signed an order appointing Hoffman as the next head of the Mossad intelligence. He will take up this position on June 2, 2026, the office noted.
Netanyahu announced the decision to appoint Hoffman to this position in December 2025. As reported then in the Prime Minister's Office, Netanyahu conducted a series of interviews with various applicants and considered his military secretary "the most worthy and suitable candidate". In this position, Hoffman will succeed David Barnea, whose five-year term of office expires in June 2026.
Hoffman was born in 1976 in the Belarusian city of Mozyr. In 1990, he and his parents were repatriated to Israel, where in 1995 he was called up for military service in the armored forces. Later, he completed officer courses and commanded various army units up to the level of a division. In 2022, he headed the National Ground Forces Exercise Center, and in May 2024, he became Secretary of War Netanyahu.
