I closed my eyes, immersed myself in prayer, and said the words, “And to Jerusalem, Your city, return with mercy,” with special emotion. And it is not surprising, because anyone who finds themselves where I stood yesterday and prays the usual mincha prayer will feel the same. It was on one of the rooftops in the Old City of Jerusalem, from where you can see the site of the Temple. Because of our sins, foxes roam there now, but we are full of faith and hope for the imminent construction of the Third Temple.
We have gathered here on the occasion of the beginning of the writing of a new Torah scroll donated by a friend of the Moscow community, Dan Chernik. This is not the first scroll that he has donated, but for the first time the beginning of the writing of the letters began in such a holy place. This was done on the initiative of the director of the Moscow community, R. Mordechai Weisberg, a friend of the sponsor.
The time for the celebration was set for the day after the wedding of the daughter of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, R. Lazar, which took place in the banquet hall “Di-City” in Mishor Adumim. The wedding expressed the remarkable unity between Jews and especially between the emissaries of the Rebbe, who have only one goal: to act and fulfill their mission in peace and love.
The first letter was written by R. Lazar, and then the honor of writing was bestowed upon guests who had arrived from different parts of the world. And when the day was drawing to a close, after the Mincha prayer, we all began to dance together to the song "May the Temple be built soon, in our days."
