State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov , a member of the United Russia faction , asked Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika to organize an audit of the activities of Masonic communities operating in Russia. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The parliamentarian points out in his address that there are many various public and political organizations operating in Russia, and at the same time, a rule has been introduced according to which no foreign or transnational organization has the right to engage in political activities and interfere in internal political processes.
Meanwhile, in Russia, completely free and without any restrictions, there are Masonic lodges that are attempting to interfere in domestic politics, and their individual prominent members, according to Milonov, tried to participate in elections to the country's highest elected positions.
“It is no secret that the Masonic Order is one of the oldest international socio-political organizations. According to open information, one of the main goals of Freemasonry is "the creation of a new world order and a world government on the principles of the Order of Freemasons," United Russia emphasized.
He added that Freemasonry is a mystical public organization that has representations and branches, including in Russia, and it openly declares its intentions to interfere in democratic processes.
In addition, Milonov draws attention to the fact that the leadership of the organization is located outside of Russia - "the main Masonic lodges are located in France, England and the USA, and Russian Masons, de jure, are in some form of subordination from their foreign colleagues."
Milonov also recalled that in the past, the activities of Masonic organizations in Russia were banned and were under strict state control.
